Detailed Assessment

Getting custom orthotics begins with a 45-minute clinical assessment conducted by a Canadian Certified Pedorthist. During this session, your clinician will:

• Take a full history of your symptoms and concerns
• Analyze your gait and posture
• Evaluate both weight-bearing and non-weight-bearing foot mechanics
• Check your current footwear 

This step gives the clinician a complete picture of how your feet function — and what underlying issues may be contributing to pain or imbalance. At the end of your assessment the Canadian Certified Pedorthist will explain their findings and discuss treatment options.

Casting: Capturing Your Unique Foot Shape

If the assessment indicates that orthotics could help, the next step is casting. A proper cast creates a 3-dimensional capture of your exact foot shape. Depending on what’s most appropriate for your feet, one of two techniques is used:

• Plaster slipper casting
• Foam box impression

Every person’s feet are unique — and so is their casting method. The goal is to create a highly accurate mold that will serve as the blueprint for your custom orthotics.)

On-Site Manufacturing by Skilled Hands

Here’s one of the biggest advantages at KW Orthotics & Bracing: your orthotics are made right in the clinic by the same Certified Pedorthist who assessed you.

You can expect your finished orthotics to be ready in about one week, and if you need them sooner, we can do a rush order.

Follow-Up and Ongoing Care

Orthotics are not always the end of your treatment. At KW Orthotics & Bracing, your care continues even after you take them home. We include any necessary adjustments for up to three years after your initial dispensing date. That means if your feet change, or if your orthotics need adjusting for better comfort or performance, we’ve got you covered.
